Etimoloji
Sarık kelimesinin Orta Türkçe sarığ ("sarı") veya Kıpçak Türkçesi sarıq ("koyun") kelimelerinden geldiğine dair görüşler vardır.[4]A Historical-Etymological Dictionary of Pre-Russian Habitation Names of the Crimea. BRILL, 1 Ekim 2006.
Tarih
19. yüzyılın başlarında Sarıklar Merv bölgesinde yaşıyordu, ancak 1830'dan itibaren Tekeler tarafından Marghab vadisine sürüldüler.[5]Further Correspondence Respecting Affairs in Central Asia. 20 Kasım 1887. Bala Murghab ve Panjdeh ana yerleşim yerleri oldu.[6]Russian Central Asia. Arno Press, 20 Kasım 1885.
1881'de Sarıklar, Göktepe Savaşı'ndan ve Trans-Hazar Oblastı'sının yaratılmasından sonra Rus kontrolüne girdi.[7]History of Civilizations of Central Asia: Towards the contemporary period : from the mid-nineteenth to the end of the twentieth century. UNESCO, 1 Ocak 2005. 1885 yılında Sarık nüfusu 65.000 olarak tahmin edilmiştir.[6]Russian Central Asia. Arno Press, 20 Kasım 1885.[8]Lansdell, Henry (November 20, 1885). Russian Central Asia . Sovyet dönemi boyunca Rus egemenliği altında yaşamaya devam ettiler. Bugün çoğu modern Türkmenistan'da yaşar, bazıları ise İran ve Afganistan'da sınırların ötesinde yaşıyor.[9]Peoples of the USSR: An Ethnographic Handbook. Routledge, 28 Temmuz 2017.
Sanat ve Kültür
Diğer Türkmen boyları gibi Sarıklar da halıcı olarak bilinir ve kendilerine özgü bir tarza sahiptir: ince çizgilerle bezenmiş koyu kırmızı-kahverengi halılar.[7]History of Civilizations of Central Asia: Towards the contemporary period : from the mid-nineteenth to the end of the twentieth century. UNESCO, 1 Ocak 2005.[10]Adle, Chahryar (January 1, 2005). History of Civilizations of Central Asia: Towards the contemporary period : from the mid-nineteenth to the end of the twentieth century . Routledge, 16 Eylül 2016. Sarıklar, mücevherleriyle de ünlüdür.[12]Turkmenistan: Strategies of Power, Dilemmas of Development: Strategies of Power, Dilemmas of Development. Routledge, 12 Şubat 2015.
