About Turkipedia
A free encyclopedia of Turkic history, culture and heritage, written by its readers.
What Turkipedia is
Turkipedia covers the Turkic world: its states and dynasties, people, places, events, inscriptions, languages and traditions, from the Orkhon valley to the present day. It's a project of Turkic Blue Project, and anyone can read it free of charge.
One encyclopedia, seven languages
There is a single Turkipedia, and each article can exist in Turkish, Azerbaijani, Kazakh, Uzbek, Uyghur, English and French. The language versions are linked to each other, so a reader can switch between them, and a missing language is one click away from being translated.
How articles are written
Anyone with an account can write and edit. Edits by new contributors are checked by an editor for that language before they're published; experienced contributors' edits appear straight away. Every version of every article is kept in its history, so changes can be compared and undone.
Sources
Articles cite their sources, listed at the end of each article. The first articles were brought over from the Turkish Wikipedia and say so at the bottom of the page, with a link to their authors. Images come from Wikimedia Commons, and each one is credited under it.
Free to reuse
Text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 license: you may copy and adapt it, including commercially, as long as you credit Turkipedia and share your version under the same license. Images carry their own licenses, shown with each image.
