İki yüzyıldan fazla süren yönetimleri boyunca Toharistan Yabguluğu, ardından Türk Şahiler ve Zunbiller, Müslüman kuvvetlerinin doğuya doğru genişlemesinin önünde sürekli bir engel oluşturdular.
