Gücünü gemileri ele geçirmek üzerine yoğunlaştırmıştır.[^4] 1560'ta [Osmanlı](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Osmanl%C4%B1_%C4%B0mparatorlu%C4%9Fu)'nın [Mısır Valisi](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/M%C4%B1s%C4%B1r_%28eyalet%29) [Sofu Hadim Ali Paşa](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Sofu_Hadim_Ali_Pa%C5%9Fa), [Seydi Ali Reis](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Seydi_Ali_Reis)'in [Açe Seferi](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/A%C3%A7e_Seferi)nden dönüşünde onun amiral olmasını engelledi.
