**Kleft** (κλέφτης *kleftis*), günümüz [Yunanistan](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Yunanistan)'da [Osmanlı İmparatorluğu](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Osmanl%C4%B1_%C4%B0mparatorlu%C4%9Fu) döneminde kırsal alanda faaliyet gösteren [Rum](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Rum) çetecilerdi.[^1][^2] Kleftler, 15. yüzyılda Osmanlı yönetiminden kaçarak dağlara çekilen [Rum](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Rum)ların torunları olup 19. yüzyıla kadar Osmanlı yönetimine karşı sürekli bir savaş sürdürmüş ve haydut olarak faaliyet göstermişlerdir.[^3]

[Kleptomanya](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Kleptomanya) ve [kleptokrasi](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Kleptokrasi) terimleri, Yunanca "çalmak" kökünden gelen kleptein (κλέπτειν) sözcüğünden türetilmiştir.[^4]
