Belisarius'un korumalarından ([*bucellarii'*](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Bucellarii)) biriydi.[^1][^2] 530'larda [Gotik Savaşında](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Gotlar_Sava%C5%9F%C4%B1_%28535-554%29) Belisarius için savaştı.[^3] Bir zamanlar on iki [Got](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Gotlar) askerine karşı tek başına dövüştü. Onu kuşattılar ve mızraklarıyla vurdular ama zırhı darbelere karşı dayandı. Gotlardan biri ona arkadan vurmayı başardı ve zırhı deldi. Ancak bu ölümcül bir darbe değildi.[^4][^5] ## Etimoloji İsmin [Türkçe](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/T%C3%BCrk_dilleri) kökenli olması olasıdır. Günümüzdeki [boğa](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Bo%C4%9Fa) kelimesinin tarihteki bir varyantı olan *Buqa* (*buga*) kelimesinden gelmektedir.
