**Ascum**, [Bizans İmparatorluğu](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Bizans_%C4%B0mparatorlu%C4%9Fu)'nun [Hun](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Hunlar) generaliydi. [Illyricum Praetorian vilayetinin](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/%C4%B0lirya_praetoria_idaresi) komutanıydı. Hem [Theophanes](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Theofanis_%28aziz%29) hem de [George Kedrenos](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Georgios_Kedrenos) onun adını "Ακούμ" (Acum) olarak çevirmektedir.[^1]

[John Malalas](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/%C4%B0oannis_Malalas), Ascum'un bir [Hun](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Hunlar)[^2] olduğunu ve [I. Justinianus](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/I._Justinianus)'un [vaftiz oğlu](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Vaftiz_ebeveyni) olduğunu yazıyor.
