**Alathar** (fl. 513), [Hun](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Hunlar) asıllı [Doğu Romalı](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Bizans_%C4%B0mparatorlu%C4%9Fu) bir [*magister militum*](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Magister_militum) idi.

Alathar, Vitalian'ın isyanı sırasında Vitalian'a yenildi. Kendisi, o zamanlar [Hunlar](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Hunlar)ı belirtmek için kullanılan bir terim olan "İskit" olarak tanımlanıyordu. [JB Bury](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/John_Bagnell_Bury), Ernst Stein ve Georges Tate bu durumda "İskit"i "Hun" anlamında okudular.[^1][^2][^3]

Hun/Macar efsanelerinde *Aladár*, Etele ([Attila](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Attila)) ile [Alman](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Cermenler) prensesi Kriemhild'in oğludur.[^4]
