Şuluk Mehmed Paşa

Şuluk Mehmed Paşa, Avrupa'da Mehmed Siroco ya da Mahomet Sirocco (1525 – 7 Ekim 1571, Patra Körfezi), Osmanlı devlet adamı ve amiralidir.

Hayatı

Mehmed Paşa, 1525 doğumludur. Paşa'nın hem yabancı (Sirocco) hem de Türkçe (Şuluk) lâkapları, sırasıyla Güney Akdeniz rüzgârı Siroko'nun Yunanca "σιρόκος" (sirokos) ve ondan türeyen Levant Arapçası "شلوق" (şlūḳ) kelimelerinden kaynaklanmaktadır.[1]T. Şuluk Mehmed Paşa, 1571'deki İnebahtı Deniz Muharebesi'nde Osmanlı sağ kanadının komutanı olarak atandı.[3]The Battle of Lepanto.
