# Şad (prens)

**Şad** ([Eski Türkçe](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Eski_T%C3%BCrk%C3%A7e): 𐱁𐰑, romanlaştırılmış: šad)[^1] erken Orta Asya [Türk](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/T%C3%BCrk_halklar%C4%B1) devletlerinde kabaca [vali](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Vali)ye eşdeğer bir devlet dairesiydi. "Şad" yalnızca, önde gelen [Kağan](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Ka%C4%9Fan)'ın çıkarlarını temsil ettiği bir vasal kabile üzerinde atanabilirdi. Bu kabilenin adı ünvanına dahil edildi. Örneğin Tardu-şad, [Tardu kabilesi](https://turkipedia.org/tr/wiki/Seyanto_Hanl%C4%B1%C4%9F%C4%B1) üzerinde ancak bir Şad olabilirdi.[^2]
